Steel works are a special challenge for sealing technologies. Lined pipelines with low-pressure flanges (PN2.5, PN6, PN10) up to diameters of 3,000 mm and more must be reliably sealed. Hot-blast gaskets must also be very robust so that they can be installed safely during operation in vacuum systems.
The types with an inner cam-profile are better and denser. To simplify assembly, the fabric support is designed like an envelope and secured internally with a metal flange (HWG-GG-TC-IE). This prevents the fabric from being pushed off/ torn off when the gasket is inserted into the flange gap and pushed over the rough surface of the brick lining. The gaskets are usually impregnated with a graphite elastomer.
